Game Tips

1) If you wear glasses consider wearing contacts for the day. The paintball masks included in the rental tends to fog up prescription glasses. The mask also compresses your face so glasses may get in the way.

2) Wear appropriate footwear. Most of the terrain is going to be rough with dirt and rocks everywhere. Hiking boots are a good option to prevent any sprains or injuries.

3) Hats, light scarfs, gloves, and long pants / shirts are recommended to minimize injuries from bb hits. The bb's do sting a bit and may leave scars if you get shot bare skin.

4) Bring water and light snacks / food. We'll supply water but bring extra just in case we run out!

5) Please bring cash or have venmo / paypal / facebook pay setup to pay Howard on the day of event.

Tacticool Loadout

To begin, the budget established in this guide includes your main weapon and the magazines required to operate it. It does not account for accessories (Grips/optics/etc) and is only meant as a base line to build upon. There is also a large used market on various forums and websites to buy from, but for the sake of comparison everything will be priced as new. We hope this guide helps you but be sure to do your own research to find what suits your play style. There are also probably many models and brands we fail to mention, but these reflect what our team usually compare and use for ourselves.

Budget Range: Sub 250$

In this price point we would be looking only at AEGs (Automatic Electric Gun). this is due to the fact that the magazines for GBBRs (Gas Blow Back Rifle) cost around 30$~50$ a piece. AEG Magazines on the other hand are around 10$~20$. Also at this price point it would be better to consider high quality polymer body guns as opposed to getting a lower priced metal rifle. Some rifles such as the SCAR and G36 are polymer in the real firearms world as well, so if realisim is a factor then opting for these models may suit you better than a polymer M4. Now on to some recommendations.

CYMA AKs - CYMA is the go to brand for affordable AK models. The wood and metal used on the receivers aren't nearly as nice as E&L and other AK makers, but as an overall rifle, CYMA AKs are very solid for the price.

Elite Force Competition line - These ranges from G36, M4, to Mp5s. Elite Force / Umarex makes some of the best external quality rifles and their more affordable line provides different rifle models for those that don't want to run an M4 like everyone else on the field.

G&G Combat Machine - This is the default for starter M4 rifles. Cheap, usable, lightweight, and compatible for upgrades externally and internally. It's a great way to get into the sport, but keep in mind that you will most likely also upgrade out of it pretty soon.

Budget Range: 250$ - 450$

In this range we are starting to look at high end AEGs or an affordable GBBR + Magazines. GBBR's are the preferred way to train for firearms manipulation. Most GBBRs have all the functionalities of a real firearm, allow one to maintain the same operation sequence when airsofting.

AEGs

VFC - VFC / Elite Force again makes some of the best rifles externally. They have a line up of HK416/417 series and SCARs that would make a great platform to do minor upgrades from. The Avalon series is a solid performer as well. SCARs share the V2 gearbox but lacks the hopup chamber options of the M4, slightly limiting the upgrade options when it comes to barrel / hopup tuning.

E&L or LCT - If you're in the market for a high-end AK. E&L or LCT are the brands to look at. E&L externals are built from factories in China that make real steel AKs. The wood is always nice and rich unlike CYMAs.

Krytac - Krytac carries a line of very modern looking M4s and the Vector SMG. The internals however have seen some mixed reviews. Our personal experience has not be great as the hopup, gears and trigger jammed / broke within the first outing. The rifle was covered under warranty but we never went for Krytac again. If you are looking for a very well built rifle externally with modern receivers. Krytac may be your option. Be ready to do some tech-ing or transform it into a HPA rifle.

KWA - KWA is offering some very interesting AEGs for the market. All of their new releases have their recoiling system, which in our experience hits much harder than the TM recoil shock series. The only down side to KWA is that their parts may not be compatible with the typical M4 due to their gearbox and design. However if you want a bit more twist to your AEG, the KWA line may be perfect for you. In general, we have also seen more positive feedback and a wider array or users for the KWA ERG line compared to BOLT or Lonex's recoil AEGs.

Tokyo Marui - TM is a well established name in the airsoft industry. In this price range you are more likely to get one of their high-cycle models or older AEG rifles. Due to Japanese laws, TM rifles only shoot around 300fps compared to the typical average of 380-400 from other brands. For some reason however, the magical hopup design of TM always manages to shoot extremely accurately despite the low FPS.

GBBR

WE - There are many GBBR brands in the market, however the USA market is mostly dominated by WE. They offer many different models starting at around 250$. The magazines are usually 30$ unless it's a more special model like the M14. WE GBBR's are a great platform to use to modify and upgrade. Replacement parts are readily available, and RA-Tech makes very solid aluminum upgrade pieces.

KWA - KWA's GBBR line is pushing the budget limit in this category as their base rifle and mags cost more than WE. But for the price you pay, the KWA rifle is a pre-upgraded WE and performs solidly out of the box. KWA / PTS has also collaborated with firearm companies to produce training rifles that offer modern externals.

Budget Range: 450$+

AEG

Tokyo Marui - In this price range we are able to look at Tokyo Marui's Next Gen Recoil Shock series. The magazines are expensive for AEG mags, but they offer the same cut-off feature like KWA. The same comments for TM still apply for this line of rifles, and in addition they have recoil on every shot and some functionalities like a GBBR. Some TM Next Gen's take proprietary batteries which also adds to the cost, but this can be rewired quite easily. A setup will run you about 550$+ depending on the model you choose.

HPA

Lastly, we venture into the world of HPA engines. HPA airsoft rifles are very expensive to setup. You will need a tank, a regulator + line, the hpa engine itself, and a base rifle to put it in. Having converted a rifle to HPA, you will also want to upgrade the hopup / barrel setup as well. All said, a new setup will run you around 900$. The tank and regulator + line can be used for different HPA rifles, so your second and future HPA weapons will be much less expensive.

So why spend all the money on HPA? HPA gives you the instant trigger response like that of a GBBR, but without the magazine capacity limitations as it uses normal AEG mags. HPA is also highly tunable via a little chip to vary it's FPS, RPS, and a foray of other options. Sure, AEGs can be upgraded to outperform HPA, but for us personally it's much easier and faster to drop in an engine than to tech a AEG gearbox.

HPA engines also comes in a few varieties now. We have the complete gearbox which is the most expensive method. In this the entire gearbox is manufactured and designed to work as one unit. The entry option is to purchase "drop in" kits. These utilize the original gearbox shell from the donor AEG and switches out the core components to become a HPA rifle.

From our experiences we prefer Wolverine's line of products for their affordability and versatility or Polarstar fusion engines for the complete set up if your budget allows. Wolverine's hpa engines has found it's way into many of our personal rifles as they offer great customer support and continuously produce new nozzles and parts to accommodate different rifle models.

Below are some brands to look at for HPA.

Polarstar

Redline

Valken

Wolverine

Tippmann - Tippmann sort of falls under the HPA category, however it's mechanics are quite different than the above mentioned engines. As opposed to the electro-pneumatic hpa engines requiring a small battery, all of the tuning and operations on the Tippmann are mechanical and the system works without a battery. Running the Tippmann also requires you to get an airtank and line, but  A 30$ remote line can get you up and running. (Though we highly recommend the Amped Airsoft lines) Tippmann is a very established brand in the paintball world and their amazing customer support carries over to their airsoft side. Tippmann currently only offers the M4 model with their proprietary hopup chamber that  uses AEG bucking and barrels. The customizable AR platform, heavy hitting recoil, instant trigger response, AEG magazine compatibility makes the Tippmann our go to rifle for most games.

Weapon Guide

The following content reflects our own experiences and thoughts of the types of weapons available in the airsoft market. We are happy to hear your thoughts through our social media outlets and encourage any constructive discussions.

Submachine Guns - The most popular "SMG" models are probably compact M4's in the airsoft world due to the availability of parts out there. But assuming we are looking at SMG's that shoot a smaller caliber projectile like the 9mm or 45cal in the firearm world, there are a few models we can look at. The MP5 and UMP are the two more common models out there on the fields. This is largely due to the fact that they are the only AEG (airsoft electric gun) SMGs readily available in North America. Between the two, the UMP has a much better hopup design as it utilizes the G36 system. There are also a few other models such as the MP7, MP9, Uzi, etc. But these are mostly gas blow back options in North America unless you find yourself a Tokyo Marui MP7. A note on SMGs, in the real world SMG's are meant to deliver rounds extremely quickly and is suitable for a cqb environment. Due to the fact that airsoft rifles are powered by the same engines, a M4 can be made to shoot as fast as a kriss vector AEG, which sort of nullifies the need for a SMG from an airsoft performance stand point.

Assault Rifles - This is going to be 90% of what players run in games. Of that 90%, more than 75% are likely to be M4s. Due to the plethora of AR15 parts, the airsoft M4 becomes a very versatile platform to upgrade and modify from. you can build a super CQB or a DMR M4 for whatever occasion you need it for. The AK family is very close to the M4 with it's various models (AKS-74U, AK47, AK74, SVD, etc) More and more aftermarket rails and such are also becoming available, but due to the fact that all the airsoft AK's are made slightly different, the parts often take some modifications to fit. AK magazines are also bit more tricky as they are not all cross compatible. There are may other models such as the L85, Tavor, G36, SCAR etc. We suggest you visit your local shop to see which ergonomics you prefer the most but the M4 and AK will give you the most options in terms of modifications and upgrades.

Hand guns - Unless you're a high-speed speedQB speedsofting athlete, the hand gun should be your secondary. Running a short barrel gas or electric pistol with low ammo count really doesn't make one very effective in a game. That is, unless you push and run and do aerobics like speedsofters (ie. SYG) That being said, pick your favourite sidearm model and get a mag or two. It'll mostly be used for room clearing or when a teammate's gun is down, unless you mainly play at indoor cqb fields.

Snipers/DMR - Dedicated bolt action snipers are great fun, but most of the time you won't be hitting people left and right like novritsch.. and your arms will be very sore after a round unless you hit the gym often. Cheating is also a very prominent issue in airsoft, and hitting people from across the field doesn't always persuade people they are hit. We definitely would not recommend starting with a sniper rifle as your first weapon since it'll probably lead to a lot of frustration and not put you in the heat of the action most of the time. Do note also most fields will require you to run a secondary for engagements within a certain distance so your 450fps rifle isn't lodging bb's in other player's skin.

An alternate as we have shown in our videos is the DMR (Designated Marksmen Rifle). In the firearm world this usually means a 7.62 platform such as the HK417 / SCAR-H (MK17) / M14. But in airsoft world since we all shoot the same 6mm bb, any long barrel, semi only 450fps rifle could be used as a DMR. Pixy's HPA SR25 is a good example of semi-auto capable DMR that lays down accurate suppressing fire from a distance.

Light Machine Guns - The LMG (Light machine gun) has a similar issue as the SMG in airsoft world most of the time. The LMG is meant to provide suppressing fire with an overwhelming amount of lead at the target.  A hi-cap / drum mag shooting M4 has the same ammo capacity as a LMG in airsoft world and can achieve this effect. However, some fields do regulate games to be semi-only unless you run a LMG. Milsim events also enforce this rule and LMG users are given more ammo. LMG's are usually very heavy but are very effective at fields that allow full auto only for LMGs to help your team push. Some LMGs includes the A&K SAW line, G&P SAW, Krytac LMG.

Weapon Types

一些LMGs包括A&K SAW系列,g&p SAW系列,Krytac LMG。
